Growing up, I was extremely scared of the dark. I feared monsters lurked beneath my bed or behind my slightly-ajar bedroom door. I was convinced that the moment the lights turned off, those creepy creatures would sneak out and get me. No matter how many times my parents told me the monsters weren't there, I still made sure to keep my little feet tucked beneath the covers and my eyes closed as soon as possible.
Now, I feel like fears take a different form - as an adult, I mean. Sure, I still fear the dark in some instances. But I mostly experience fear of getting hurt, fear of missing out on something, fear of failure. I'm sure most of you have the same fears happening in your own life.
Want to know something pretty awesome? We're our own security blankets. We have the power to turn something scary into no big deal. I learned this by watching scary movies - I knew I was going to be shaken by a jump scare, so I took a deep breath, steeling myself against any fright. We can do this in our everyday lives, too. Though we won't always know when things will happen, we can be brave and prepared for anything that arises. Courage comes from deep inside of us, and it's exactly what we need as we face each monster lurking in the dark. I hope this beautiful strap helps you be courageous in everything you do.
